I have used the DRIVE3 software and found it to be very useful in the past. I am curently investigating a case where the "Decision Point" is critical to whether an approaching vehicle was within view during a driver's "last look". The software manual discussion for "Decision Point" makes reference to several studies that average the difference between when it is safe to accelerate onto a road and when the vehicle starts to move forward at 1.4 seconds.
I have been unable to locate any studies that address this. I am waiting to hear back from the DRIVE3 folks but would appreciate any help.
Are we talking the same language? What is decsribed may be a driver's reaction time, if so there is bucket loads of data and research and it is probably a matter of searching for those that best reflect your circumstances.
