I am currently working a case involving a Dodge Ram pick-up truck vs. pedestrian. Since this is a homicide case I would like to get the ACM and the PCM downloaded. I am wondering if anyone here can point me to a Chrysler Rep that I can speak to about this case.
Steve, I would need to know the year of the Dodge Ram to see if the software for the EDR is available. I have a CDR kit and can tell you what is available. Second, since this is a criminal case, you will more than likely need a search warrant to download the EDR. Did the airbag go off? If it did not, there may or may not be information recorded on the EDR. If there was no airbag deployment, be careful when towing it. If there is a big enough jolt to the vehicle, it can erase or record over the EDR information that was recorded from the original crash. Also, do not turn the ignition on the vehicle. The EDR keeps track of how may ignition cycles there are. The ignition cycle has to match the time of the crash to show that the reading that was obtained is the reading for this crash. It is possible there was another non-deployment recording prior to this crash. You have to show that the reading you obtain is for your crash. If this has already been done, keep a log of who did it and when. The EDR usually only locks information when there is airbag deployment. If you need someone to download the box for you, my fees are reasonable. I am located in notheast Ohio. Let me know what I can do for you. I will give you any information I can to help you out. I also am trained in vehicle/pedestrian crash reconstruction so don't be shy to ask any questions. Craig
I should have been more clear on this. I have already downloaded the ACM however the report indicates that there is more information to be obtained. The additional info cannot be read by the CDR. I was just hoping that someone might have a contact at Chrysler and would not mind sharing that name. Mostly so that I could get the PCM downloaded.
Steve, OK. It sounded like you needed the info downloaded. What I would do is contact a man named Rusty Haight. He can be reached at RustyHaight@collisionsafety.net. He is the guru on the CDR. He can probably point you in the right direction. If there is nayhting else, just ask. Craig
